I was one of the latecomers today who were in the
wrong room and had not yet applied for consent. I
really appreciate that you did not kick the extras out
and seem willing to accommodate everyone. I am an RTF
senior, proud to be a feminist, and a little scared
that this is my last year in the protective university
environment. I have concentrated recently on video
editing and postproduction, but the documentary class
I am taking this semester is really exciting. I
already have my comm/culture requirement, and I
honestly have a full course load with two other RTF
classes. But something told me that I needed to take
this class, and now I know why I was drawn to it.
When I finally found the right room and listened to
your introduction, I knew that I wanted to make this
class a priority. It is so clear to me that there are
problems with the way most people view gender and
sexuality as binary constructs when really the
possibilities are so numerous. To be able to discuss
these issues with other people who are willing to try
and break down societal barriers would be very
important to me. And focusing on these issues in the
context of new media is exciting. I am already having
ideas for possible documentary and performance that I
can't wait to explore. I feel that I have something
to contribute to this class, and I think it would be a
great learning experience, not only about other
people, but about myself as well. Thank you for
letting me apply so late.
