I've been thinking about Alan's video project in relation to other aspects
of research, for example, the people who would take cameras and tape
themselves in their interactions with computer-mediated relationships will
most likely be the more exhibitionistic social animals. The videotape
method would cause shy and private Internet users to not be included in
"the sample." I'd really like to see the video done, but I can see that it
might be difficult to set up in relation to his other research. Maybe
conceptually Alan should explore video, computers, and gay networking
without trying to fit it in with the many constraints dictated by his other
research. It will all be related anyway and he will learn video and much
about his flirty Internet research subjects too by switching modes into
video. Sounds like an exciting experiment! Thanks for telling us your
