>> What does this have to do with
Weird Science???
Well the phenomenon of Street Light Interference
is obviously not something that is generally studied
within mainstream science. It is a phenomenon built
on repetition of coincidence or para coincidences and
inhabits the space between science (there maybe magnetic
fields escaping from your brain causing interference
with electrical devices) and non science (the fact
that there seems to be no way to cause the effect to
occur
makes it almost impossible to document).I combined
this investigation with information about CEMI field
theory because, like SLI, CEMI field theory isn't exactly
widely accepted by science, but it provides REASONABLE
SOUNDING reasons why such activity would take place.
Furthermore it is likely less about the high falutin'
principles
of magnetics and EM fields as it does with human perception.
Are you causing that light to turn off with your presence
or are you just noticing it happening, storing that
bit of info away, and then interpreting any repletion
as a pattern. This is similar to the "scientists" we
discussed in class who try to find people speaking
in the bad sound recordings at "haunted" houses. |
>> Did You Really do an Experiment???
>> Why the Side Show imagery?
Part of the beauty of Weird Science is the element
of Wonder. Science has essentially explained away
all of those things in nature that man was for so
long in awe of. It pulled back the curtain of nature
to reveal the patterns and cause and effect chains
that are assembled to form the universe. Science
has categorized and named everything. This doesn't
necessarily mean that the stuff science has uncovered
isn't amazing, only that the merciless understanding
of things has made the world a little bland. Yet
in the corners and spaces between the codified universe
exists stuff that science can't or won't or doesn't
want to bother explaining. This is the stuff of Wonder.
Stuff that is a jumping off point for the human imagination.
I have always had a fascination with sideshows for
this reason. The performers at sideshows are all
about WONDER. They walk the narrowly constructed
line between fact and fiction and even if they slip
to one side or another, we, the audience doesn't
really care because its more fun to believe that
they can swallow swords, eat light bulbs, or that
they really are Sasquatch and not just some guy in
a bad ape suit. |
>> And the Science Fair Board?
What up with that?
The reason I chose to display the experimental
part of my project on a science fair board was that
for me, my first experience in being a real "scientist"
was with our school science fair. For most people
in fact, this is where they learn the basic fundamentals
of experimental science, the "Scientific Method."
It seemed appropriate then, to return to this beginning
when investigating the weird science of SLI and CEMI
field theory. Plus its funny and putting supposedly
legitimate experimental data on a elementary school-style
science fair project board made ridiculously elaborate
with baroque gold frames underscores how illegitimate
weird science is or at least perceived to be... |
