Project #1
Claymation   a copper skeleton in the makingPolyeurethane foam added and cut clay covered

I tried making a claymation figure with a copper skeleton. I used copper wire to make arms and legs and attached it to a harder copper frame with tape and more wire. I used tape to isolate joints on the body and then I used polyurethane foam to create the shape of my figure. In the process his foot broke off, which lead me to the conclusion that copper makes for a poor claymation figure, as it will break if bent a few times.

This project certainly was a test for me. I've never really done clay before, let alone claymation figures. I decided to explore the "science" of the technique, and i saw it as an initial test for a potential final project; an abstract claymation film I had conceived during my summer vacation. A lot of dead bugs and b/w film would be involved.
