Conclusion

Transformations are not solitary, individualized.  They often have far-reaching and intense repercussions.

My father was a brilliant and powerful man.  He spent his life counseling major corporations, traveling the world, and spent years testifying before Congress and the Senate as an expert on corporations and tax law.  Now he’s a sweet five-year-old who repeatedly asks me “are we there yet?” when we go for a drive.

My sister was a beautiful and charming woman, a former model married to a millionaire.  Totally transformed, she now spends her days battling her cravings and addictions.

My mother, well, she’s actually doing okay.  She’s working hard physically to heal and making her mental adjustment to her new life and the self she can now be.

And me, I’ve become my parent’s parent, my sister’s adversary, and I’m so far behind in my life and work that I may have to withdraw from school.  But not today.
