cyborg: you
This was a short film based on an excerpt from Donna Haraway's book A Cyborg Manifesto. One of the article's points discussed in class is that we as modern humans are all cyborgs. We rely on technology for just about every task, but more specifically we are able to modify our! bodies with technology. In this little flick, John Gross and I interviewed some students around campus and asked them how they felt about being cyborgs. Most were surprised, but accepted and understood their fates. Sorry I don't have a clip from the flick.

  thinking cap

The thinking cap came about from my difficulty in thinking about what to do for a second project. I needed something to help me think. I had a felt cap fitted to my head and sprayed with plastic to make a shell. I wired several LED lights, both blinking and not, in parallel, then taped them to the cap and covered the cap in electrical tape. The idea is that the lights would stimulate creativity. If you wear it in the dark, the room fills with red, blue and yellow light, but since you can't see the light source it's very relaxing. Sorry, no pic of the actual hat as of yet.

imperial march // march.mov

This is a found footage piece gathered from various 16mm clips in the steenbeck room. On the first day of class dreams were cited as a crucial part of the scientific process. The various dreams that make up student films can be found in discarded pieces in the bins, so John Gross and I collaborated again to find some images that we found interesting. We edited the clips to the Imperial March because it is a familiar sci-fi theme. The result was a mix of sexual, homicidal, and just random images. I do have a link for it, but since I don't really know anything about publishing on the web, the file came out pretty damn big. Hope you like it.
