Project 1

Bebo's Victrola

This sound piece started as a song written using one word from each of many other songs. This idea eventually flowed into making a type of music (not necessarily lyrical) using the words from other songs. Plus some very interesting background music by Avatars of Dub.

Blender
This is a blender from back in the 70's. It's got a nice power-down noise. Plus, it is lime green.
Bed
 Loud creaking noise.
TakeThat
My roommate drags his toe across the floor of the kitchen & it makes a strange rattling noise. Afterward, he usually yells "Take that, 914!" (which is the apt. below us).
Heater
Ahh, my precious cat heater. I call it the cat heater because my parents bought it many, many years ago to keep our cats from getting too cold in the garage.
Chair
This very old chair squeaks quite a bit. It was my grandmother's, and I am quite attached to it.
Kid Laugh
Two very young children in Mexico laugh when they see themselves in my camera's screen.
Radio
This was a commercial playing on the radio in a shop in Acuna, Mexico. It also has the background noise of people in the store.
Message for you
Believe it or not, this clip from Monty Python and the Holy Grail (where a servant gets shot with an arrow containing a message from the prince) means a lot to me. It was the sound my computer made when I got new email my freshman year. It either meant an old friend was sending me a nice note, or that I had some spam.
Over The Rainbow
A 1939 (or so) recording of "Over the Rainbow" as performed by The Four King Sisters with The Rhythm "Reys". My dad found this while we were digging through a box of records to use for Project #1. I recorded it with a mic in front of the Victrola. Not only does it sound cool, it reminds me of a good friend.
