Our project has taken a bit of a turn since our first presentation to the class. The focus of it has shitfted to the actual architecture and innovation of a backpack that also provides the functions of a tent, and certain "techie" amenities all in one. We have named the unit the "EcoPack," being that its intentions are to allow the progressive traveler the benefits of modern technology and comfort with the portability and light-weight that is so eagerly sought after. The "EcoPack" is entirely self-supporting--it no longer needs the poles or parks that we had previously discussed. It is also, we must mention, a marketable item that will benefit ALL people--giving a percentage of the packs to those without shelter.
The rationale used is quite simple...we are attempting to find a method of carrying all a person's housing needs with them wherever they go in a neat and burdenless form. We have built upon the previous successes-and failures-of others including projects of various militaries, innovations in solar panelling, the flying wing, backpacks, and tents.
What we are looking to solve--or at least to further explore-- is how to give man the architecture that allows him total and unhindered mobility?...What is lacking in current methods that keep more of us from moving around at will?...and What is needed to satisfy the needs of the "mobile techie?"...and...How will our product get from our minds/models to the backs of everyone else???
