When Bubbles Stopped Swimming
INSPIRATION: My Children’s Literature class and my Actlab “Death” class.
In my Children’s literature class we are always reading children’s books with very light and happy topics. In my Death class we are always talking about the topic of death,…..so I decided to merge these two classes together to create a children’s book with the topic of death.
PROCESS: From the beginning I knew that I wanted to make children’s book using only cut out colored paper. I had trouble with the story’s plot. I didn’t want my children’s book to take on a religious tone, or for it to be controversial. After I wrote the story, I started on the illustrations. I had no idea how long it was going to take me to illustrate my book by cutting out all of the characters from paper.
STORY: In this book, a little girl’s fish dies, and she goes to her mother for answers about life and death.
