Using a free
sound file from a Google search for "car horn mp3," and Adobe
Audition, I created a song by manipulating the file. I used time
stretching, pitch change, as well as cutting the file into parts, and
then layered bits and pieces to create something that hopefully sounds
nothing like the original mp3.
My motivation for doing this was mainly a desire to take environmental
sounds (urban and natural) and turn them, not into an experimental
sounding piece, but rather almost a pop song. I wanted to start
with one sound and manipulate that before moving on to a project that
incorporated several sounds.
