Non-Linear Bricolage Project Using Adobe After Effects

WARNING: Chris says, "This short is ickey"

My main goal with this project was to create a project that was heavy on sensory overload. I wanted to create an assemblage of random images that when put together would resemble something entirely different in meaning. Set to the right music, I wanted these images to move fluidly. Originally, I wanted to create sort of a cheesey looking music video from the 80's, but ultimately I think it turned out as a weird video collage that resembles a commercial more. What I like most about the end result is just how random most of the footage I used is and how when assembled together it kind of resembles some strange hybridization of bad B-movies from all kinds of genres. Which, infact, happen to be my favorite genres.

I think my biggest problem with this program was that I was using too many timelines at once. Often I would lose track of where certain clips began and ended. But hey, that was probably just my own dillemma.

Rather than using alot of the animation effects offered in the program, I stuck to using the opacity tool and the image resizing tool the most. If I was to change something about this project I would probably add more effects like fades and dissolves. However, I felt that with the music I chose, direct cuts worked the best. All of the footage I used was taken from my video library. The mutant dog scene and the teeth scene are from a Lucio Fulci film called "Demons 2" . The head chopping scene at the end is from an EXTREMELY bizzare horror film called "Mother's Day", I recommend you check it out only under the influence of something. The music used is a song called "Rubicon" by Alan Braxe and Fred Falke.
