Project 1 - AUTOMATIC CAR WASH [video]
Streaming Quicktime Video | Windows Media Player Video
The premise for my first project was an exercise in constructing a narrative from previously filmed material. I found a home video that my Dad had filmed of our pool installation guy instructing him how to keep up with the maintenance of the pool filter. My idea was to make it seem like he was actually showing my Dad how to convert the pool filter system into a homemade automatic car wash. |
Project 2 - DIE ANNE [audio]
Die Anne
The premise for my second project revolves around a song that I wrote and recorded called "Die Anne." I had decided to write and record a song for this project, and a phrase that I kept mumbling when writing the music was the name Diane. After singing this for a while, a different form of the words popped into my head, which was "Die Anne." I wrote the song about a fictional female to male transie that was saying goodbye to his femaleness. I recorded the song at home with an Audio Technica 3035 microphone, an Edirol UA-1000 recording interface, and software called Tracktion. The little league baseball clip underneath the music was taken from a home video of one of my baseball games at the age of 10.

Project 3 - HEMLOCK, MICHIGAN [html/website]
Hemlock from above
The premise for my third project revolves around my fascination with the geography of my hometown of Hemlock, Michigan. As a child, I used pieces of notebook paper and stapled them together to make an ever-growing homemade map of the area. I did not plan on running away, but I made the map just in case I needed it. For this project, I spliced together satellite imagery of Hemlock, Michigan including my house and the school/park area. I labelled different locations and added a clickable link that brings up a picture of that exact location and a description of what is happening in the picture.
