Project 3
Monsters, Etc.

Ever since people started having an imagination, monsters have existed. Through out the years monsters have grown more complex. They've been created by man, they've been mythical creatures, and they've been mutated humans. Some monsters are more fantasy based as to where some are more reality driven. It is my belief that in more affluential cultures the monsters spawned from a child's mind is more fantasy driven to where as low literacy rate countries produce more reality driven monsters from children. Also in some parts of the world where violence is an everyday occurence monsters might be more reality driven due to the chaotic nature of their state. The following is a brief picture history of monsters and my hypothesis as to what current monsters appear as in the minds of children today in various parts of the world.

Frankenstein's Monster

Dracula

Wolfman

Freddy & Jason

Michael Myers

The Devil

Evil Dead

Monsters from "28 Days Later"

Monsters, Inc.

Dragon

Godzilla

My theory of a typical modern day monster from a Middle Eastern mind:

The reason for my theory of this monster is due to the current US foreign policy. I believe Middle Eastern children's monsters resemble more a mechanical nature similar to that of guns, bombs, and an F-18. They're bombarded with violence on a routine basis that their fantasy is somewhat merged with reality.

My theory of a typical modern day monster from a United States mind:

The reason behind my theory for this monster is based more on the nuturing of the mind. Literacy provides a wild imagination which in turn producers creative thinkers. US children's monsters resemble alien life form and that of a more imaginative state of mind.

Monsters are one of the foundations for Weird Science. The creation of something based on science in its unintended nature. The living resurrected, mutation of humans, evolution of a species, and the existence of unknown life are all science and the imagination of that science make it weird science.
