The German word 'unheimlich'is obviously the opposite of 'heimlich' ['homely'], 'heimisch' ['native'] the opposite of what is familiar; and we are tempted to conclude that what is 'uncanny' is frightening precisely because it is not known and familiar. Naturally not everything that is new and unfamiliar is frightening, however; the relation is not capable of inversion.

The word pastiche describes a literary or other artistic genre. The word has two competing meanings, either meaning a "hodge-podge" or an "imitation".

 

MTV Cribs-

A popular television show that airs on the Music Television Network. The show is characterized by its celebrity guests who show off their fancy and often times extravagant homes and possessions. The style of the show is characterized by quick cuts, fast motion, plenty of popular music playing throughout, and an overall very A.D.D. style of editing which is clearly aimed at the younger crowd.
