We love old science fiction movies and notices that many of them were set in near futures which are now recent pasts. Our real recent past though almost never looks anything like the ones in the movies. Frustrated that humanity's imagination seemed to always be outpacing its actual potential we decided to take a closer look at the way our imagination manifests itself in the world of movies where it doesn't have the same rules as our world.
To frame this exploration we invented a machine that could travel to this world of imagination. It visited three particularly wild points in film's timeline: 1991 , The Conquest of the Planet of the Apes ; 1997, Escape from New York ; 2000, Jurassic Park ; and 2002; RoboCop . As you can see from the machines footage, that our world makes it so difficult to bring our imagination to reality may be more blessing than curse. |
