Project Description
The Tutorial Junction Web site is intended to help students in the School of Information with their technology needs, including hardware, software, and connectivity.

Another method of achieving this goal is through Short Courses, which are taught in person. Short Courses generally have low attendance due to the work schedules of many students. The Tutorial Junction site was created to provide online tutorials to meet the technology needs of students’ at their convenience.

The main problem of the site is the division of determining the nature of user inquiries. Are users trying to discover how to perform a specific task, or are they trying to learn a specific application? Currently the site is divided into two main sections, the “How To” and the “Application Library.” Sometimes both paths lead to the same place, but no coherent information architecture provides the best path.

The goals of this project are threefold. First, development of an information architecture that allows any user to complete their task through browsing is needed to connect users with their information needs. Secondly, an archive of older tutorials should be developed so that users may search for a tutorial on a specific task in an older version of software. Thirdly, user feedback needs to be incorporated into the site for future use in usability studies.
