For our third project, many of us in the TRANS class took an idea presented in class and ran with it. Sandy said that "any transgressive act is a political act," an idea that bubbled around in my head for a couple of weeks. Then, when a project was presented in class that explored the multiple terms for masturbation (particularly male masturbation), the WANKATHON was born.

Many of us in the class took this opportunity to stage a "protest" in the west Mall of the UT campus. After preparing the script the evening before, dashing to Kinko's at 2am with the pamphlet , and working on the posters until the wee hours, I was a little trepidatious as I picked up the keys to the public address system. Then, as I approached the tower, I saw my classmates, and all of my fear immediately dissipated. The group came together and presented a fabulous protest. Check out our pictures to see what I mean...
