Bubble Time

A pyrotechnic creation by Daniel Brenza

When the idea for this project began formulating in my head, the bounds of science seemed nearly non-existent.  But as soon as the wall came tumbling down, science was already laying the foundation for a new one.  While it seemed the dream of success lay beyond that wall, the real excitement was dancing on the edges.  I knew from the beginning that there was no way of avoiding the opportunity of producing some type of pyrotechnic project because to put it simply, I love fire.  Fire itself has always thrived on the edge of science due to its ability to appear alive.  Fire needs oxygen to breathe, food to eat, fire can also kill or be killed.  When presented with a God like ability to play with life, I just couldn’t pass it up.  But just fire didn’t seem like enough.  The project needed something a little fun and playful.  And what could be more fun than bubbles.  A simple joy from childhood that is more fun than sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll combined.  So to add a twist of irony to the bubble shake all that was missing was one element.  This was one time when starting from the beginning actually paid off.  Hydrogen, the first and lightest of all elements just happened to have explosive properties.  Now it seemed all the pieces were gathered together, I needed only to see how they fit.
