Before diving into circuit bending, I practiced my soldering and wire stripping techniques on constructing a headphone amplifier from scratch
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I took apart two toys and attempted to wire them together so that playing one would play the other.
First, I wired them both to the same battery supply and to the same speaker output.
I followed the circuits connecting to the button interfaces on both systems and wired them together. It worked, but as I predicted, this also led to crazy sounds coming from both, which I pursued further.
The process of bending involves following circuits around and test probing connections with fingers and with wires connected to other parts of the device. I soldered a few resisters to various parts that reacted dramatically to it.
Touching various connections and resisters results in massive pitch and tone modulation.
I plan on using the ability for human touch to control sound to make a hybrid instrument. As one plays a guitar the fingers touch the metal strings. Not only can this play a sound through the vibration of the string, but if it is hooked up to the bent instrument it can control the electronic sound at the same time.
