- project goals -

The Twisted Body project is a collaborative effort to fully
manipulate one's emotions, using an installation piece
as a medium to express our ideas. Through the implimentation
of visual and auditory elements specifically selected to trigger
certain feelings, the participant will have their emotions contorted
to their extremities. This will result in a technologically euphoric
experience filled with a wild ride through the seven principle
emotions: happiness, fear, anger, disgust, contempt, interest, sadness,
and surprise. We combined the technology of VR glasses and a
makeshift sensory deprivation chamber for a full effect of total immergence.

The Twisted Body idea was developed from an installation piece which was
originally intended to be our focal substance, regarding the art of contortionism.
This mysterious form of art caught our attention as we were exploring things
that existed in the real world, but would make more sense in a virtual one, where
there are no restraints or boundaries. After looking deeper into the meaning
of "contortion," the group decided it would be fascinating to actually distort
a person. We decided to concentrate on psychological aspects rather than
physical, resulting into the goal of twisting one's deepest inner emotions.
