The Avid Xpress DV Tour is an interactive multimedia presentation that introduces the main features of Avid Xpress DV. Avid recommends that you view the tour as the first step in learning how to work with your system.
The Avid Xpress DV Tour requires that you have certain multimedia applications installed for the Web browser in which you run the tour. These applications are commonly used to provide playback of multimedia content and video in Web browsers, and you may already have them installed on your system. If you need to install them, you can do so easily by downloading from the Internet or by using the installers supplied on the Online Publications CD-ROM. You need the following:
- QuickTime®
- Macromedia Shockwave™ Player, together with one or more supporting plug-ins (or Xtras) for the Player
QuickTime is installed automatically when you install Avid Xpress DV. If you want to run the Avid Xpress DV Tour on a system that does not have QuickTime installed, you can download the latest version from
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/.
The Shockwave Player and supporting Xtras can be installed in one of the following ways:
- If you have an active Internet connection, you can click the link below to start the tour. Your browser will automatically recognize that you are trying to play a Shockwave movie and will begin the process of downloading the Shockwave Player and supporting Xtras. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
- If you are not connected to the Internet, you can use one of the Shockwave Installers supplied on the Online Publications CD-ROM. Double-click the Shockwave Installers folder, double-click the appropriate folder for your system, and then double-click the installer. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation, and then click the link below to start the tour.
Click Start Tour below to start the tour. Once you have started the tour, you can move directly to any of its twelve component movies by using the navigation buttons on the left.
NOTE FOR MACINTOSH® USERS: The Avid Xpress DV Tour does not run successfully in Macintosh versions of Netscape® 6.x (including Netscape 6.2) due to Shockwave compatibility issues. To play the tour on a Macintosh system, use Internet Explorer or, for Mac® OS 9.x or earlier, use Netscape 4.7.
