A CUBAN BOX DRUM

For this project, I decided to make a Cajon. A Cuban box drum.

It was a very physical project to take on for such a digital guy like me. And unfortuantely it didn't come out quite like I had wanted.

Despite its difficulties, I managed to force some noise out of it.

I think the performance went very well considering the problems the drum was giving me. The feedback in class was positive and also helpful.

Going into it, I told my audience to imagine an argument. This was supposed to be symbolize the argument between myself and the drum. This created a musical soundscape that explored the theme of struggle through rhythm. It helped me explain myself in what I sometimes feel to be my first language.
