LIVE LOOPING

understanding growth by experiencing song

For this project, I decided that I needed to try performing a song with multiple parts and layers, all recorded live on the spot.

The song is called Dry old ginger ale, or the empty shed discovered in the dark, or unmentionables settled upon the ivory, or the dialogue between a hesitant child looking in fear toward the coming of his alleged manhood and a higher power on the night of the Perseid meteor shower.

The live looping rendition performance of this song comes at a time in my life that parellels when most of it was first written, three and a half years ago. Graduation.

For this endeavor, in addition to learning live looping technique, I also composed a bridge to conclude the song that seemed to complete the piece.

So as I finished the song, I essentially finished my college career. I flipped my tassel, and I was done.
