Project 3 is an exploration audio/video reprodctuion. Though people have created multi display projects before, what I would like to explore is the idea of total submersion into the media which you are being exposed to. I accomplish this by not only using multi video channels, but audio channels as well.

To accomplish multi channel audio, I used Cakewalk Sonar 4 Professional to engineer a 5.1 channel mix. This program worked wonderfully and provided an intuitive layout.

In order to create multi video channels I burnt my projects to DVD and synced the players to coincide with each other.

For my panoramic video iamges, I took three seperate video or more and stiched them togehter. I often left the lines in between in order to create a perception of further then "reality" would let you naturally see.

Below are some pictures of my initial construction of my proejct.

I designed the viewing structure with the help of Brandon Wiley. We chose PVC because of its light weight and because it is also easy to work with.

Presentation Day

I learned a lot the day of the presentation, the biggest thing though was that even if you project doesn't go the way you thought it would, it can still look very good. I also learned that you can plan as much as you like, but sometimes a projects scope is still too big. This is what happened to me, my project was beyond the scope of the time for which I had to setup. I am glad that it did turn out ok.

Web Presentation

So in order to show this project on the web I have combine all three video panels into one and down mixed my 5.1 surround audio mix into a two channel version. I have created two different version, the most capatable one is the quicktime version, however the other version is in a wmv format, which if you do not have windows, you will need VLC in order to play it, however, the quality is much better and this is the version I recommend watching.
