How
has Experts Exchange effected me?
Since I've
learned about Experts Exchange, I have yet to need it, but I have
a friend that is a Computer Engineering Major in college, and
he told me about this site. He thanks God every night for giving
him Experts Exchange.
When he first
started using the site, he was a "rookie." He thought
he knew a lot about computers and networking, but as his classes
increased in difficulty, he realized how much he still had to
learn. He began posting questions on Experts Exchange, and he
couldn't believe how fast he got answers. The more he used and
learned about the site, the more he realized how different Experts
Exchange is. People weren't just getting answers to questions,
people were going there to learn. If they never learned, they
would never be able to answer any questions in order to earn more
points so that they could ask more questions. It's a vicious cycle
he was suckered into entering.
He realized
what was happening to him, and he decided not to fight it. As
he asked questions and answered questions, he learned far more
than he thought possible through an online community. Now, when
he has a question, he doesn't bother with his instructors or teaching
assistants, he goes straight to Experts Exchange. "I would
rather take those opportunities to share my problems and solutions
with my online friends. After all, everyone could use another
chance to earn points. It's a give-and-take relationship."
