well, i agree nathan, i do'nt like angry emails, but i definately think that
you, Amber, had the right and is justified in the way you reacted.. i
totally agree with you on what you are saying. I dont' think I am quite as
upset but I agree. what WAS the point of it all? What new knowledge are we
supposed to come away with here? Yes the shock value was there and it
worked quite well, as i was very shocked. but i feel like they were
exploiting a very VERY painful issue just to get that shock reaction I
can'tsee any thing more to that video as far as gender issues and new media
is concerned.

i am already pretty damn aware--what woman isn't? we are taught to fear rape
every day of our lives.
> > i am so angry and upset! and no, i don't think the filmmaker can now say
"good, that was the point," because it wasn't. there point was to shock for
the sake of shock, nothing else. there was no closure, we were pulled in to
identify with a protagonist that was gang raped and left with nothing. this
is going to disturb me for a long time, and especially all night at work
(which i am now late to). and yes, i know, it does happen all the time with
no punishment, but i already fucking know that! i don't need to see an
extremely realistic version of a gang rape to know it exists. and
personally, i'd like to start seeing some shocking art with a goddamn point
other than 'hey let's see how much i can freak you out!'

just revictimized and are going to spend the rest of the night thinking
about shit they don't want to, me included. and if that was the point, then
that "filmmaker" (which i can't believe is a woman) can go fuck herself!@!@!
