Greetings to all of you exploring through sexuality, gender, and new media.
I too am exploring and have enjoyed reading the sent introductions.
My name is Sylvia and I am a double major: RTF and Latin American Studies.
Last year I met a dear friend from Germany and one of the reasons he chose
to come to UT was because of Sandy Stone. When I saw that she was teaching
this undergrad course I decided to take the opportunity to see what everyone
was talking about. I have experience in theatre and some production with
digital video. I thought this class would give me the chance to work with
others who share intrests in both the creative and technical sides of
perforamnce. My idea for the final project is similar to what David
described:
"Like you, I am also very interested in performance and I have a bit
of experience with new media production as well. One of my ideas is to
design a highly immersive performative environment using audio feedback
loops to repeat and amplify bodily sounds. I want to create a spectacle
with little or no escape, and I want everyone in the ACTLab to be an
active participant."- David MeMumbrum
***I will try to talk to you later David. My goal is to incorpate sounds,
movement, and colors to create a sensual environment.
Also, I was thinking about incorporating voices describing their own sense
of gender identity and sexuality.
Ok, I guess I will add a little more info about my personality. I am a very
open minded person who loves meeting new people who have different
backgrounds and ideas of life. This class is great because it introduces me
to an entirely different group of people in our society that I have not had
the chance to hear their views. Traveling is my ultimate passion. This
summer I went to Morocco, Spain, Poland, France, England, China, Singapore,
and Thailand. The reason why I have stayed in the RTF department is because
I have met so many different people who share interests in traveling,
cultures, performance, creative thought and expression. And most of the
time it makes me feel better when I meet people taking a RTF class who are
not focused yet possess a gamult of interests and creativity. Ok ok, I
think have taken enough space on all of your monitors. See you in class.
Ps. I usually wear my hair in a ponytail, my hair is blondish brownish. I am
Polish and most people say it is obvious with my physical apperance, what
ever, I think it is my big Eastern European nose ( only a joke, if any is
E. European please don't take offense). So if you recognize me in
class and want to share ideas about projects please don't hesitate.
