Project 2
The Ambien Day

I take Ambien from time to time in order to go to sleep and there's been times where I've taken Ambien but have been prevented from going to sleep as intended. I've never taken an Ambien in the middle of the day...until now. I recorded one normal day without being under the influence of a sleeping agent and the next day under the influence of an Ambien.

 Normal Day

 11:00am           I’m awake and I feel a little groggy.

11:45am           I’ve taken a shower and gotten ready for the day. The shower helped wake me up and now I feel great.

12:00pm           I’m eating breakfast. Pancakes and waffles with a little fruit.

1:00pm             I’ve just kind of relaxed around the house. I still feel fine.

 2:30pm             I’m eating lunch; a Chipotle burrito.

3:00pm             My day is as normal as ever. I still feel fresh and full of energy.

4:15pm             This is the start of my downtime, but if I stay busy I will be fine. If I lay down I will probably go to sleep. I’m having a snack.

5:30pm             Studying Spanish. I’m starting to come out of my downtime and I feel as good as I did earlier in the day.

6:00pm             I’m heading to the gym to go workout.

7:30pm             I feel pretty good after working out, maybe a little rundown. I’m beginning to cook dinner. I’m preparing grilled salmon, steamed cabbage, and a Caesar salad.

8:30pm             I’ve eaten dinner and I feel great.

9:00pm             I’ve taken a shower and now I’m heading over to a friend’s place. The shower rejuvenated me somewhat.

11:30pm           I’m back home and still feel pretty good although I have yawned quite a few times.

 1:00am             I’m calling it a night.

Ambien Day

 9:00am             I’m awake and I feel okay.

10:00am           I’ve taken a shower and gotten ready for the day. I’m headed to my internship.

12:00pm           I’m back from my internship and I am now eating breakfast. Pancakes and waffles and an apple.

1:00pm             Spanish class. I feel really good.

2:30pm             I’m eating lunch; an avocado sandwich with Doritos.

3:00pm             AMBIEN TAKEN. I feel awesome.

3:30pm             I’m starting to feel the effects from the Ambien. I’m not lightheaded or dizzy, but I feel kind of slow.

4:00pm             This was a bad idea. Things are happening in snap shots. I cannot fully remember moment to moment. If I lay back in a chair, I will fall asleep.

4:30pm             It is a struggle just to stay awake. I have to just walk around just to keep going. I’m going to eat some fruit snacks and drink a lot of water.

5:30 pm            Things are still happening in snap shots. I feel like giving up.

6:30pm             I’ve got a roommate with me and we’re headed to the gym to go workout.

8:00pm             The gym was a bad idea. I had no energy and couldn’t do anything. I didn’t do any cardio; just free weights. I do not feel dizzy, just really tired. The good news is that things aren’t happening in snap shots anymore.

8:30pm             My roommate puts some steaks on for both of us and I threw some broccoli in the steamer. I could not prepare an entire meal for myself. I jump in the shower.

9:00pm             The shower helped wake my up because I made it just a little cold. Eating.

10:00pm           I think the Ambien has run its course because now I have a normal tired sense. I don’t think I could accomplish anything though.

 11:00pm           I’m calling it a night.

It was weird to have a day like the Ambien day. Taking prescriptioned medicine in its unintended fashion was the basis for my project and I think a form of weird science because weird science sometimes goes against the norm. I intend to never perform something like this again and I do not recommend one to take medication in its unintended form because it drastically prohibits your routine functions and can cause side effects.
