The basswood model was used as the inspiration for a series of sketches. I focused on texture: of wood, of paper, of charcoal. Masking tape was used to mark areas for a series of negative space sketches. I played with the mutability of charcoal; its ability to blend and obscure the hard lines of the basswood model.
