Ibn al-Lahab

Ibn al-Lahab, son of the Flame, was the first servant of Shaitae al-Lahab and now is nothing more then a lowly familiar. How is it that such a powerful Ifreet has fallen to such a degrading position? Flesh. The one thing that makes all things weaker – flesh.

First above all things God, Allah, made the Angels out of the light of his blessing. Second he made Ifreet, from the fire of his will. And last came Man, from the clay of his design. So it was of this second class that Ibn al-Lahab was forged… not quit so lofty as the Angels, nor so fragile as Man.

Despite all his power he was loyal and loving to his father Shaitae al-Lahab, who had taught him they ways of God and loved him as deeply as any heart might. But the day came when Fire was asked to bow before flesh. When the Light declared Man to be the salvation of existence.

Having known the will and face of God Shaitae refused to bow before anything lower, and all his lot were cast from Heaven into the Garden of Man. Here they were forced to take form – become clay. Embittered by his punishment Shaitae grew vindictive, selfish, and short sighted. He fell for the guiles of Man’s weaker sex and became bound to a priestess of a long dead god.

Because of his folly Shaitae’s children were made to suffer, most of all was Ibn al-Lahab, who could not believe that Shaitae had been so easily enslaved. The priestess knew of Ibn al-Lahab’s disbelief and used it to bind it to her consort, a Seneschal of the Unseelie Court. There he is trapped, forced to play vizier to the brutish and idiotic kinfolk of dreams and nightmares.
