My final project in Blackbox was a way to get myself to understand what I had learned in the class. I kept asking myself what i got out of this class and that is when it hit me that I should have a conversation with myself. I knew I wanted to make the conversation as enjoyable as possible so I began thinking of what I could inject into my project to make it more than two guys talking. I instantly thought of the film eXistenZ. I had also just seen the film The prestige and that's when I knew i wanted to do the transported man trick. So I combined both of the films and that is how Surreality was born.

I knew I only had a limited amount of time before the audience got bored with me talking to myself. So I thought of three questions which I thought the audience ponders as much as I do. What is reality? What is illusion? What is the meaning of life? I tried to put a philosophical edge as well as a comedic touch to the answers.

Blackbox has a different definition to different people. Most people don't take the time to find out what it is for themselves so they ask others. What they should do is talk to themselves and perhaps they'll find some answers they thought were never there. Or should I say, questions which were never there.
