This was
the first attempt at circuit rewiring for me. I've
never touched the guts of any machine before and
I thought I would try something simple. I took the
wiring out of an old phone and tried to make it
work by just having it's wires and hardware on the
outside rather than inside a box.
I began
by taking out all of the insides of a phone that
I bought at a vintage store. I then placed them
out on a large piece of wood that I had stained
black. I set everything up as exactly as it was
laid inside of the phone.
I then
began to tear and de-gut other electronic equipment
so that I could arange them around the board so
that it looked as if there was some sort of design
for the piece.
What I
ended up creating in the end was basically a piece
that was visually more interesting than being actually
useful.
I did all
of the wiring on a rug carpet that shorted out my
circuits and in the end the phone didn't actually
work. It would have been pretty cool if it had worked.
The experience
I took out ofthis project made it all worth while.
