Dream and Delirium

Home Project 1 Project 2 Project 3

For my second ActLab Project for Dream and Delirium I composed a multi-layered

soundscape which was created by multiple audio and song samples. I did this with the

intention to describe a particularly surreal experience that I had when I had my wisdom

teeth removed. During this experience I was heavily gassed and during this time I was

listening to headphones. As soon as the doctor gave me an injection to put me to sleep,

the song Idioteque from Radiohead began to play and after thirty seconds time froze for

me and the tone from the song extended finitely until I faded out of conscious. This

soundscape is a loose interpretation of the experience that I had in an auditory sense. It

was created using multiple sounds clips taken from Idioteque, Timothy Leary’s audio

book, Orbital, clips from the Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas movie, Benny Benassi, The

Mars Volta’s “Cut the City” and sound fx from the Hollywood Edge that were

manipulated using Sound Forge and my turntables. All layering was done using Acid Pro 6.0.
