The
process of making this tree out of wire is actually
very simple.
First,
you have to find a wire that is thin and easy to bend.
I went with a 0.5 gage wire and twisted multiple pieces
together.
After
spray painting the main roots of the tree gold, I went
on to making the leaves. This is the most time consuming
part of the process.
First,
make a simple cut out of a leaf and cut the template
out ofa thin sheet of metal. I used a double sided metal
that had one side gold and the other side silver.
You
could easily use tin foil, but this might crumple too
easily. After cutting and etching some lines in the
leaves for some flare, I attached each leaf
to
a random piece of wire that came out of the twisted
root. It's not necessary to make leaves for all extended
pieces of wire, because then it may
be
difficult to see the wire work underneath. All in all,
this project requires a lot of twisting and cutting
thin pieces of metal.
When
the light hits the leaves, the tree sparkles and creates
fascinating illumination.
