Beneath the Bra
I decided to make a series of bras to sum up what I believe has defined the female gender.
The first bra I created was made of chicken wire. Originally I intended to create it out of barbed wire, but because of budget contraints and the need to buy such material in bulk, I changed my medium.
The pink ribbon was added to emphasise the shape of the wire more, and to add to the feminine factor of the bra.
The point of this bra was to emphasise the contraint that a bra produces, not just physically but, in terms of our sexuality a bra will immediately say "woman" which is not always the case. The first thing a cross-dresser would do, would be to wear a bra, to immediately feel more feminine.
My second bra was a digitally projected bra. The projection was a video in the shape of a typical bra, but it was the content that was most important. The video contained clips of female gender-associated activities such as cleaning, cooking and shopping. I think that speaks for itself, wearing a bra ties us to our sex, and our sex is tied to many of these gendered activites.
And Lastly, I made a bra that makes fun of how unfortunate it can be that our breasts can be our focal point. So I made a bra to give them something to look at
It is a bra that lights on voice activation, now there is something to stare at. Now we can draw attention to our breasts with more purpose, and find it in the dark, all on our own! This way we can just objectify ourselves, if you can't beat 'em join em.
This was my very first soldering experiment, and for the most part, with many last minute cliff diving tests, it was able to work!
