This was my first project that started as a serious quest to find the paranormal but ended as a mocumentary on the lines of Unsolved Mysteries. I found a place that was registered as haunted on Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, it just happened to be the office my Dad works in. This particular office building used to be a hospital when the Fort was built in the early 19th Century. Many years of death have contributed to the paranormal activities that occur in this office. First I set up two Sure SM57 mikes placed in good locations around the office and connected them to a hard disk recorder. I made sure the office was empty, recording at midnight and leaving it there overnight. I came back in the morning after a long night and stopped the recording and listened to it to find some spooky stuff. After this I recorded an interview with a member of the office and got his past experiences with the paranormal. I then found the part of the recording that I was going to use and was ready to begin the second phase of the project. I went to the local Fort Sam Houston Museum and got pictures of what the old hospital looked like, and also took pictures of the outside of the office building and the buildings around it. I uploaded these pictures into Imovie on a Mac and started my video. I used Garage Band to edit the sound clip from the recording with the interview and the commentary, which I recorded on a Sure SM57 mike also. After I completed the audio track I transferred it to Imovie along with the pictures and started the process of putting the two together. I got inspiration from Ken Burns and his documentaries with the moving pictures, no video. I used the features in Imovie to zoom in and out and also move the picture. I chose the time it would take for the picture to move and also how it would move. I also changed the color of the pictures to make them look scarier. I put the audio together with the video and was finally finished. It took a long time to figure out how to do the different features in the programs but I got the hold of it after a while. I enjoyed working on this and I hope you enjoy viewing it!
