Case Study 2

In this case study I looked at my own personal multimedia system. This system consists of three physical systems much like Blanu's. My home, the ACTLab and web hosting. Web hosting differs from a remote server in that unlike owning a remote server, I do not have root access to the server I am on and share processing and bandwidth with others. Below I will explore each spaces use:

Home: This space is used for content creation/manipulation. Connection is through a 5 static IP address DSL connection which allows for server testing and remote desktop connection.
ACTLab: I primary use the ACTLab for project/educational web hosting. The upload/download speed is fast and access through SSH makes for secure transmission of data.
Web Hosting: My web hosting account is primarily used for business purposes. With this account I can create full websites. Through a web interface I am able to buy/move Domain names, create Email accounts and many other things. I also have an SSH account which allows for secure remote connection.

Below is a schematic of my system in Fall 2004
