Our first project for Actlab was a "free throw" project, meant to deal with the issue of death and how death is perceived. I felt a direct vox box interview of a few acquaintances would be an ideal way to visit the issue. In class we talked about morbid topics and how every time we addressed the issue of death it was rather depressing. I tried to lighten things up. On the first day of project presentations, most of the projects were sad, depressing, avante-garde, and depressing. I feared that my project, involving Chuck Norris, wouldn't be taken kindly. This turned out not to be the case. Since the assignment was freeform, I had the freedom to take a humorous view on death. Sandy, my professor, said that she was naive to think that Chuck Norris couldn't be a representative of death with his dark attire, black cowboy hat, rugged beard, stoic expressions, and his deadly martial arts attacks.
I recall seeing the beginning of a film we saw in class called The Seventh Sign. I found it interesting that the depiction of death in that film was a man-like figure with a pale face wearing a black cloak. Death almost looked androdonous in that film. I think death can be in any form as he plays games like in the film Bill & Ted's Bogus Adventure. Even if it's Chuck Norris.
